Coconut Jelly from Penang

Back from Penang not long ago. There is one food, or should I say dessert - coconut jelly. It is the best thing to try on a hot day, refreshing and cooling!!

From the outside, it just looked like normal coconut with its skin removed. What really interesting is the all the coconut water inside in has been turned into jelly form. Bassically, you can scoop out the jelly or suck it using straw. What's more? you can still eat the coconut fresh after finishing the jelly.... yummy.

Almost forgot, it is located at Jalan Dato Keramat. Must try if you visit Penang.

Short trip to Beijing - Part III

Our last stop was at the Ming Tomb - 定陵. It is one of the 13 tombs and is the tomb of the last emperror of Ming Dynasty. It took about 6 years to build the underground tomb. Really impressed with the ancient people, they managed to build such gigantic and impressive architecture without the help of machineries.

This shows the location of the tomb out of the 13 tombs

The gate to the underground tomb, which everyone who comes out from here will shout "I am back", sounds silly but I followed anyway:)

Throne for the deceased emperror. Ruler of underworld?

View from the exit.

The unearthed place of the "Guiding Slab" - which lead to the entrance of the tomb.

Short trip to Beijing - part II

Although it was rush, we managed to squeeze some time out to go out the GREAT WALL. Like Chinese saying: 不上长城非好汉.

Well, it was TOUGH, my friend and I managed to reach the top tower of the Great Wall, and it already took us like 1 hour plus.
The view is superb and majestic.

Never ending .......

Finally reached the the top tower!!

Short trip to Beijing - Part I

As a host for Olympic 2008, Beijing sure is a well developed City. I did not spent a long time there though but managed to visit some interesting places. Let me introduce the Forbidden City.

Isn't it magnificent?! This has been the Palace for Emperrors since Ming Dynasty. For those who are not familar with the China history, the building is more than 500 years old!

Along the way, pair of Chinese Guidance Lions can be seen on the entrance to the main hall.

This is believed to symbolic powerful mythic protective powers

The throne in the Hall of Preserving Harmony. It was used for rehearsal ceremonies and the final stage for the Imperial examination.

Well, did not really have enough time to fully cover the whole area. I think it is worth to go there again and enjoy scenery there once again.
